The research area of the Professor of Wood Science covers wood science, especially the properties of wood as a raw material and the utilization of these properties in the SME sector. The field covers expertise in questions associated with issues of wood raw material and timber measurement from forest by way of conversion and further conversion to markets in the SME sector network. The development of product-based wood-purchasing and of new products at a higher degree of conversion presupposes a knowledge of change in the properties of wood as a raw material and of the technical-economical exploitation of these changes. The duties of the incumbent of the post, in addition to research, is to see to it, for his own part, that research results are taken into account in the making of forestry-associated decisions.
