The post of the Professor of International Forestry, focusing especially on Russia and countries of Eastern Europe with Economies in Transition is shared by the Finnish Forest Research Institute and the University of Joensuu. The discipline of this professorship focuses on comparative forest policy between economies, and calls for a multidisciplinary approach. The field of research covers sustainable forestry in Russia and in the countries of Eastern Europe with economies in transition (economic, ecological and social dimensions), and analysis of the changes in forestry in the countries with economies in transition, especially from the viewpoint of Finnish forestry. The office includes lecturing in Russian Forestry at the Faculty of Forestry of the University of Joensuu.
