Professor Anatoly Petrov, a leading forestry specialist in Russia, was appointed a member of the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) of the Finnish Forest Institute (Metla). Professor Petrov holds the post of Rector at the All-Russian Institute of Continuous Education in Forestry.
The tasks of the SAB include, among others, to review Metla’s strategic goals and focus areas in relation to other research organizations. It also takes the initiative in setting new research directions and programmes, and enhances collaboration and networking with other leading international forest research organizations.Other members of the SAB are Professors Darius M. Adams from Oregon State University and Knell Danell from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Adjunct Professor Jagmohan S. Maini from the University of Toronto, Professor Luc E. Pâques from the French National Institute for Agricultural Research and as chairman, Professor Pasi Puttonen from Metla. The Scientific Advisory Board assembles once per year.
