Tree Breeding, Genomics and Evolutionary Biology:

Final Conference and Workshops of Noveltree Project 16th-18th October 2012, Helsinki and Vantaa, Finland
- A two-days scientific Conference on Tree Breeding, Genomics and Evolutionary Biology organized on 16-17 October 2012 at Helsinki, Finland, House of Science and Letters, Kirkkokatu 6. This Conference will provide a platform for scientific discussions of the most recent findings obtained within and outside NovelTree project thanks to invided speaker lectures, a selection of oral presentations and a poster session. - Workshop 1 "Genome analysis tools applied to forest tree breeding" organized on 18 October 2012 at METLA, Jokiniemenkuja 1, Vantaa. The event is addressed to researchers and students interested in understanding how to generate sequences and interpret the obtained data in order to detect genome-wide genetic variation to be used in breeding strategies. - Workshop 2 "Realized gains and future prospects in tree breeding and seed deployment" organized on 18 October 2012 at Helsinki, Finland, House of Science and Letters, Kirkkokatu 6. Establishing and facilitating a permanent dialogue with the Forest based sector belongs to the priorities of the NovelTree project. The workshop will illustrate to non-specialists the most recent scientific findings related to new developments in tree breeding activities. Emphasis will be put on discussion of environmental and economic issues related to development and use of improved forest material.Click here for more information.
