Background of the conference

Cost Action E33, Forest Recreation and Nature Tourism, is a network of researchers and practitioners working in the field from all around Europe. The Action, which started in January 2004, has as its main objective to improve the quality of information available to policy makers and forest managers on the recreation and tourism benefits of forestry and to increase the cost-effectiveness of techniques for delivering recreation and tourism benefits from forestry.

The European Forum on Urban Forestry (EFUF) is a unique venue where urban forestry professionals meet scientists and policy-makers within the field. Since its establishment in 1998, the forum has met annually. The forum is organised by the local hosts in cooperation with the Urban Forestry research group of the International Union of Forest Research Organizations’ (IUFRO 6.14.00) Urban Forestry research group (6.14.00), and the European Urban Forestry Research & Information Centre, EUFORIC.

The conference is sponsored by the Metsämiesten Säätiö Foundation.
