Location

Rovaniemi is the capital of Lapland , situated at the Arctic Circle with diverse and fluent connections from Helsinki and elsewhere in the world. Early September is the time for autumn colours (ruska in Finnish), and is a favoured tourist season. Therefore, make your reservations early.

Arctic Centre is both a research institute belonging to the University of Lapland , and a museum with interesting exhibitions, available free for congress participants. Arctic Centre provides diverse modern meeting facilities.

All the hotels are in the centre of Rovaniemi, with a number of restaurants close by.

Important dates

• The Symposium will officially start 10 am on Aug 30 and will end with a banquette in the evening of Sep1.
• Registration will be in the evening of Aug 29 and during the congress.
• Early registration fee is valid until June 15.
• Abstract submission deadline is June 15.

Scientific program

The program includes invited keynote talks, submitted talks and posters. The themes include general veterinary parasitology, protozoan zoonoses, fish parasites, Echinococcus, host-parasite associations (physiology, pathogenesis, population and community ecology, phylogeography and phylogeny, bioinformatics), human parasitology, and other relevant topics.

Social program

• Unofficial get-together will be at the Arctic Centre in the evening of Aug 29, at 8 pm (no charge).
• Reception by the City Council of Rovaniemi, Aug 30, at 7 pm (no charge).
• Rovaniemi by night, free evening in the city.
• Banquette, Sept 1, at 7 pm (55€).

Registration

To allow free choice for the participants, the actual registration fee covers only the congress participation, congress materials and coffee breaks. Early registration fee, 150 €, is valid until June 15. After that, late fee is 200 €. Registration form (.doc).

During the meetings days, lunch is served at the Arctic Centre restaurant, at 7 €, to be paid at site.
