Session: Quality assurance in higher forestry education

Panel session of IUFRO education group (6.15.00)

The session will start with invited speakers, but there will also be limited opportunities for oral presentations (15 min.). In addition a number of poster presentations can be accepted. Abstracts should be sent as soon as possible to:

In this panel forestry professors and students with experience from curriculum development will present examples of best practice und discuss current trends on:

• methods of quality assurance in learning and teaching
• introduction of new curricula (role of universities versus bureaucracy)
• evaluation and monitoring
• accreditation practices (traditional and recently started activities)
• graduate analyses
• students’ roles in courses, activation of students
• students participation in curriculum development and evaluation
• students experiences in international study programmes, students’ groups with different cultural backgrounds
• how to introduce new subjects (e.g. gender studies)
• how to introduce new learning and teaching methods (e.g. cases studies, problem based learning)
