COST E42 - Growing Valuable Broadleaved Tree Species Meeting & Workshop: Production and utilization of high quality birch

COST E42 „Growing Valuable Broadleaved Tree Species“ (ValBro) was established within the COST framework as a Network of scientists from different countries all over Europe working on ecological, economical and social aspects of valuable broadleaved tree species. The action was launched in November 2004 and will be finished in October 2008.

The COST E42-meeting in Finland will take place in the middle of June in Lahti , which locates ca 100 kilometers northeast of Helsinki. The meeting includes two intensive meeting days indoors and a one-day field trip. There will be meetings of Management Committee and Working groups, and a Workshop addressing the ecological, silvicultural, and economical aspects of forest management in birch stands. The topic of the field trip is forest management and utilization of high quality birch.
