The conference will be arranged in Kivenlahti in the city of Espoo, part of the Helsinki metropolitan area. The conference venue will be Meripuisto Congress Center, which also has a convenient hotel with moderately priced accommodation available for the participants. The five-day Post-Conference Tour will take the participants to Northern Finland and Sweden, including locations north of the Polar Circle, characterized by endless daylight and the midnight sun in June.
All fees and costs are quoted in Euros (€).
The registration fee is € 420 for participants whose affiliation is a IUFRO member, and € 500 for others. Higher Late-registration Fees apply after March 31, 2003. The registration fee includes registration, conference material, lunches and coffee breaks during the sessions, the Conference Dinner, and the one-day In-Conference Tour with meals (excl. breakfast) and coffee breaks. One copy of the special issue of the refereed journal with the selected full papers is also included. Price of the Post-Conference Tour is 1050 €.
Participants will be responsible for their travel to the conference venue and their return arrangements. The Conference will begin and end at Meripuisto Congress Center in Espoo, Finland (How to get there). The Post-Conference Tour will start at the same place, but disband at Umeå, Sweden. Rovaniemi, Finland, is another departure option for those wishing to participate in the first two days of the excursion only.
Helsinki-Vantaa International Airport is located 30 km from the conference venue, and accessible with various transportation options. Anyway, we recommend you to take a taxi from the Airport. Local buses from the venue to downtown Helsinki depart at 10-15 min intervals and the trip takes about 30 min.
Participants will be responsible
for their accommodation during the conference, and accommodation is not included
in the registration fee. Special rates will be available at the Meripuisto Congress
Center (single € 67, double € 87). You may also choose any other accommodation
option in the Helsinki area, but you will be responsible for your own transportation.
A number of rooms is designated for the participants until May 6, 2003. Accommodation
on the Post-Conference Tour will be arranged by the organizers.
