Location of Punkaharju Unit

The Punkaharju unit is located 28 km from Savonlinna towards Parikkala along road 14. The distance from Parikkala is 30 km.

When you come from Savonlinna, turn right to Harjutie after the Tuunaansalmi strait (there is a map of the area at a stop along Harjutie). Drive along Harjutie for about 500 metres and turn left to Finlandiantie. After 100 metres turn left to the research unit.

Communications in the area are good. The nearest train stop is at Lusto - The Finnish Forest Museum along Savonlinna-Parikkala railway line. Trains stop at Lusto when necessary. It is only 400 metres from Lusto to the research station. The distance from Savonlinna airport is 33 km.
