Metla's modern and well-equipped laboratory facilities provide a valuable research asset to forest research. The central laboratory in Vantaa and the regional laboratories in the research stations and centres provide a wide range of analysis and other services. The analysis services include different methods of bioscience, e.g., inorganic and organic chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, molecular biology, tree physiology and anatomy, and physics.
The central laboratory and the laboratory of the Rovaniemi research unit are accredited by FINAS (the Finnish Accreditation Service) to the field T203 (water and environmental analytics) fulfilling the international requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories (standard SFS-EN ISO/IEC 17025).
