Research activities

Research on peatlands and peatland forestry have traditionally been the strengths of the Parkano Unit. New topics related to peatlands include the afforestation of abandoned peat production areas.

The Parkano Unit also focuses on forest condition and health, and on monitoring the environmental factors affecting forest condition.

Research on natural regeneration and seed and seed yield is also carried out at the Parkano Unit. The radioecology of forest ecosystems is the newest research topic at the Research Unit.
