Vilppula Research Forest represents south boreal forests in the climatically median part of boreal Finland, 300 km north of Helsinki. The area includes an experimental drainage area of forested peatland where numerous experiments involve regeneration, nutrient status, and growth and yield of peatland stands. Long-term fertilisation experiments are represented also on upland sites, as well as monitoring on natural forest dynamics and factors affecting forest condition. |
