Kolari research forest represents northern boreal forests and aapa mires including managed and semi-natural reference areas. Research is focused on the ecology of peatlands, biodiversity of north boreal forests, impacts of prescribed fires, impacts of fertilisation on northern forests, and management of the forest tree breeding and progeny experiments in northern Finland.
