Kannus research forest represents mid-boreal forests from the western coast to inland. It includes a variety of management schedules and seminatural reference areas. Research is focused on the management and use of wood for fuel, the afforestation and stand dynamics on former farmland, and the succession and dynamics of forests on the unique up-lifting coastline of the gulf of Botnia.
