Scope and objectives of BNFSG

As agreed by the 3rd BNFSG Meeting
(Vanajanlinna, Finland, 3-5 September, 2001)

1. Objectives

Through regular meetings
- exchange knowledge, experience and ideas
- explore possibilities for co-operation in developing and producing
  forest statistics and stimulate such co-operation
- work for European and global harmonisation

2. Scope for co-operation

All fields of statistics related to the forest sector, e.g. statistics on
- forest resource
- forest and forest industries production
- forestry operations
- ownership and estate structure
- prices and costs
- foreign trade
- labour

3. Meeting arrangements

- Meetings (2-3 days) once a year rotating between countries
- Hosting country: arrangements, agenda, presidency,  reporting
- 2-4 participants from each country (at least one from NFI or corresponding)
