Poster 248: A System of Control of Forest Resources Use and Reproduction in Russian Taiga

Kharin, Oleg A.

The forest sustainable multiple use is the basis of forestry in the Russian taiga. In many respects the efficiency of forest management depends on an objective, detailed and operative information about forest lands and reforestation processes of lands, not covered with forest, such as burnt-over woodlands and cutovers.

Based on a system approach to this problem the author learnt the dynamics of species composition of stands, the specific features of the reforestation process and the optimum ways of forest use in taiga.

The model of this system is consisted of the following parts: the contemporary condition of stands, the forecast of dynamics of species composition of forests, the optimizations of the allowable cut and long-term activities in forestry.

The author elaborated the methodological principles of forest reproduction in taiga, which include control of conservation of understory trees in exploitable forests, regulation of forest resources reproduction on burnt-over woodlands and cutovers, control of forest lands conditions and forecast of dynamics of species composition of forests.

The further investigation in this fields of forestry must be directed to elaboration a system of control of forest resources use and reproduction for each individual forest enterprise, that better permits to take into account the forest site conditions. The data of the forest resources conditions, the models of forecast for forestry development are the principles of this system of the control and regulation of forest sustainable multiple use.

Key words: forest use, control, taiga.
