Once in Finland, many delegates may wish to explore the country more extensively. The great expanse of the Lapland fell region, perhaps the last wilderness in Europe, is an unforgettable experience. A cruise to St.Petersburg or Tallinn is also a thrilling experience. The following Tourist Programme will be organised for the IUFRO delegates before and after the Congress.
The Tourist Programme is arranged by CONGREX Blue & White Conferences Oy. With less than 20 persons, CONGREX reserves the right to cancel the tour. The prices of the tours do not include medical care or travel insurances. The organisers are not responsible for injuries or losses suffered by delegates or accompanying persons, nor for lost or damaged luggage or personal belongings. Vaccination against diphtheria is recommended for persons going to Russia.
A visa is required for most foreign nationalities travelling to Russia and Estonia. Some will also need visa for Sweden. You will receive detailed information on the visa requirements with the confirmation letter.

An overnight stay at Hotel Grand Marina in Helsinki. In the morning pick-up from the hotel to the harbour to board a ship for Tallinn. Upon arrival in Tallinn, lunch in a local restaurant. Next a sightseeing tour including all the main sights and the Old Town. Dinner at the hotel. On the following day a visit to Rocca al Mare, an open-air museum with a folk dance show. An overnight stay at the Hotel Grand Marina in Helsinki. On the next afternoon departure on board M/S Konstantin Simonov for St. Petersburg, the old Russian capital. St.Petersburg, built by Peter the Great in the 18th century, is famous for its numerous museums, art galleries, theatres and concert halls. The price includes full board, a city sightseeing tour, a visit to the Winter Palace, the Hermitage, and a variety and folklore show in a local restaurant with a typical Russian gala dinner. Return to Helsinki by boat on the afternoon of the fifth day. Transportation from Helsinki to Tampere included in the tour price.

An evening flight to Kittilä, about 150 km north of the Arctic Circle. Lappish culture and traditions, the unique natural resources and the mystical nights of Lapland are the special features of this tour. The tour contains outdoor activities, hiking, fishing and canoeing, a visit to a reindeer farm, and a party at Särestöniemi, the gallery and home of painter Reidar Särestöniemi. The tour price includes the flights and accommodation in high-quality log cabins with full board and programme. Return to Helsinki by plane on the morning of the fifth day.

Departure from Tampere for Turku, where you will board a luxury ferry for an overnight journey to Stockholm. A Scandinavian buffet dinner will be served on board. Upon arrival in Stockholm a sightseeing tour. Dinner in a downtown restaurant. Accommodation in a first-class hotel. On the following day free time before noon. You may visit the Royal Palace, the Old Town etc. In the afternoon, transfer from the hotel to the ferry for the return trip from Stockholm to Helsinki. Dinner on board. Arrival in Helsinki on the next morning.
