What is New?

21 November 1996

Full-length versions of Keynote Addresses and Sub-Plenary Session Papers as well as abstracts of Inter-Divisional Session Papers have been added to the documentation. They can be accessed from Papers and Abstracts page directly or through keyword search. How Internet was utilised in IUFRO'95 has been reported to congress professionals in severall events. You may wish to have a look at the ESAE presentation outline.

1 September 1995

The congress web information has got a new home page for the post-congress use. It is a merge between the pre-congress home page and the on-site home page. We have designed the new home page with the purpose of helping both the people who attended the congress and those who did not.

21 August 1995

The congress web information change to post-congress state has been started. The congress abstracts can now be read and searched. Expect later more features that were available in the congress.

28 July 1995

Regrettably two Keynote Speakers have informed IUFRO of not being able to attend the Congress.

Ms. Elizabeth Dowdeswell's paper "People, Forest and the Environment" on Tuesday, 8 August at 8:30 in Room T1 will be delivered by the Deputy Executive Director of United Nations Environment Programme, Prof. Reuben Olembo.

Dr. Jean-Pierre Troy will be replaced by Dr. Andrew Bennett, Chief Natural Resources Adviser at the British Overseas Development Administration. The title for the Keynote Address on Wednesday, 9 August at 8:30 is "Sustainable Land-Use: The Interdependence Between Forestry and Agriculture". Registration Update 28 July (hotels 10 July). Excursions 6, 8 and 13 are fully booked, and no more participants can be accepted for Excursions 15 and 17 due to special arrangements for entry to Russia. Some tips regarding the hotels and new Congress Statistics may also be found in the document.

12 July 1995

A Stamp Booklet will be issued in honour of the Congress. The Booklet, First Day Cover and the First Day of Issue cancellation will be available from the Congress Post Office. You can also order them by fax, phone or mail - see < A HREF="stamps2.htm">Ordering information.

10 July 1995

Preliminary daily programmes for most Post-Congress excursions have been added today [1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11,12, 13, 14, 17].

CONGREX had to reduce the quota in some of the hotels. Registration Update gives information on the available rooms within the CONGREX quota as of 10 July. The Congress Organisers cannot guarantee the accommodation for those maki n g the reservations after this date. If you are planning to register on-site, please bear this in mind.

3 July 1995

Registration Update 30 June. The scientifig programme has been fully updated (but not tested thorouhgly). The list of posters by Division is also available. Please let us have your comments regarding the documentation.

15 June 1995

Registration Update 15 June. Please note that we had to cancel Excursions 5, 9 and 16 due to lack of participants. You might also want to check the Satellite events some of which are new.

8 June 1995

Registration Update 8 June. The page now provides the exact number of vacant seats on excursions as well as hotel vacancies by room type.

6 June 1995

The session information has been fully updated. Please note that there are several changes in the times and places of the sessions. There are, however, still some changes to be made in the programme, but these are mostly related to papers and speakers. The mounting of posters will take place on Tuesday morning from 07:00 (7 am) onwards (NOT during Monday as announced earlier). The poster exhibition will be opened on Tuesday at 13:00 (1 pm).

12 May 1995

Registration Update 12 May. Please note that hotels Rantasipi Tampere, Cumulus Hämeenpuisto, Kauppi and Victoria are fully booked. If you wish to stay at hotels Cumulus Koskikatu, Arctia Tampere, Tammer, Villa or Pinja you should find someone to share the room with or reserve a double room for individual use since there are only double rooms available. There is new information available for golfers.

The documentation on Opening and Closing Ceremonies has also been updated.

Search the online congress information using keywords! Simply type keywords of your choice into a text field, click the "search" button, and follow the list of links. You can use the boolean operators and/or between your keywords to form more specific searches. You can also truncate keywords with an asterisk, e.g., silvicultur*.

You may already have noticed that the Congress Programme can now be accessed via a clickable schedule. The number of registered delegates and accompanying persons and those participating in the In-Congress Tour as well as booking situation for hotels and excursions can be checked on Registration Update page (normally accessed through Post-Congress Excursions, Accommodation or Registration page.

23 March 1995

Some 260 Delegates and 40 Accompanying Persons have already registered in the Congress. Hotel Kauppi and Hotel Victoria are already fully booked. In-Congress Tour seems to be very popular, we have close to 200 bookings by now. The excursions are also well received. The Baltic Excursion is leading: almost half of the seats have been reserved.

All the detailed information on Divisional and Congress Group sessions which has been made available for the Congress Secretariat has been included in the WWW documentation. Please note that there may still be changes in the programme, especially regarding the meeting rooms.

The accommodation information published earlier as a separate Hotel Guide has also been included in the WWW documentation.

10 March 1995

The first registration form was returned on Friday, 17 February, 1995. About 100 participants and 30 accompanying persons have already registered.

The pictures of Congress Organising Committee have been added. Divisional and Congress Group Sessions can now be viewed chronologically and by Division. The detailed information on most sessions will appear shortly. Please provide us with comments and useful links.


17 February 1995

The printing of the Congress Registration Package was finalised on Wednesday, 15 February, 1995, and all the 15 000 copies are currently being mailed to both the member organizations of IUFRO and the individuals who have indicated their interest in participating the Congress earlier.

The home page has been updated and most of the Registration Package material has been incorporated in the WWW documentation.

The current documentation is still partly in testing phase, so please bear with us. All comments regarding the WWW documentation are most welcome.
