Welcome to the Post-Congress Excursion "Protection and Multiple Use of Natural Resources in Finnish Lapland" of the IUFRO XX World Congress. The multiple use researchers of the Finnish Forest Research Institute, managers of the Finnish Forest and Park Service and local Lappish people are happy to have you with us in this excursion.
The aim of this excursion is to make you familiar with the Finnish nature protection system (national parks, nature reserves, wilderness areas etc.) and different forms of natural resource utilization in Finnish Lapland. We hope that you will see a cross-section of Lapland's forests and other ecosystems and their multiple use including timber production, tourism, recreation, reindeer husbandry, fishing and hunting.
We will also visit some local cultural places like the Arktikum House, the Arctic Circle, the Saami Museum and the Artisans workshop.
