Tampere, founded in 1779, is today one of Finland's biggest cities and a regional centre of education, trade and industry. Tampere is also well-known for its architecture and famous for its rich cultural life. The city tour will include the Cathedral and Näsinneula Observation Tower.

The tour starts with a visit to Visavuori, the former home and studio of the famous Finnish sculptor, Emil Wikström. Iittala Glass Centre shows the history and manufacture of Finnish glass. After lunch you can see how glass is blown and visit the small design shops in the grounds.

A drive along the shore of Lake Näsijärvi, through Ruovesi to an old Heritage Village in Virrat, where Finnish culture and country traditions come to life. Visits to an open-air museum with a forest lodge, a house museum and a museum displaying the history of surveying and canals. A traditional lunch with Finnish delicacies will be served before the departure to the Ikaalinen Art Centre where you will see paintings, sculptures and graphic art.

Haihara Museum of Dolls and Costumes has a collection of 400 dolls displaying the fascinating history of dolls from the Stone Age to our days. Theatre dolls and votive dolls are also on display. The museum is in the Hatanpää Mansion in beautiful surroundings on Lake Pyhäjärvi. In the area there is also a rose garden and the Arboretum of the City of Tampere.

Departure by bus for Turku, the former capital of Finland. The sightseeing tour of this idyllic town includes Turku Castle and the Cathedral from the 13th century. On the banks of the river Aura you will board the old steamboat Ukko-Pekka and take a cruise to Naantali. Lunch on board. Naantali is a small town that developed around a Birgittine convent founded in 1443. On the way back to Tampere you will see Naantali's greatest attractions, the pretty wooden houses.
