Accommodation is available in various price categories. You may choose to stay in a first-class hotel in the heart of Tampere, in a modest campsite cottage - or somewhere between these two. There are 19 alternatives for accommodation. The organisers have compiled a special Hotel Guide from which majority of the following information has been extracted. Special rates have been negotiated for the Congress participants.
Most Congress hotels are within walking distance from the Congress venue (see clickable map (note the size: 282k), red circles refer to hotels and the green ones to Tampere Hall and the University). Low-priced accommodation may be farther away but there are good public transport services to the Congress venue or the Congress organisers will arrange daily transportation to and from the Congress venue.
The organisers cannot guarantee accommodation if reservations are made later than 30 June 1995.

A professional congress organising company, CONGREX Blue & White Conferences Oy, is in charge of the accommodation reservations. The prices given are special rates for the participants of the IUFRO 20th World Congress, available if the reservation is made through CONGREX.
There are nineteen options. Please choose two hotels and show their priority in the Registration Form . Check vacancies here. Since the number of single rooms is limited, the organisers hope that participants will prefer double rooms.
All rooms, except for the low-priced accommodation (numbers 15 to 20), have a private bathroom or shower. Most hotel rooms have also a colour TV and a minibar. The low-priced accommodation (numbers 15 to 20) is mainly in student hostels, with shared kitchen and washroom facilities. Also small camping cabins are available. The icons in the pictures refer to facilities in the rooms and in the hotels. Please check the meaning of the icons here.
The hotel reservation is effective only when accompanied with the payment of FIM 500 per person, irrespective of your choice of accommodation. The deposit, which you pay to CONGREX, will be transferred to the hotel and credited against the total cost of accommodation. You will pay the balance of the hotel bill on arrival at the hotel or, if you choose the low-priced accommodation, to CONGREX at their desk in Tampere Hall.
The room rates include buffet breakfast. The introduction of the Value Added Tax (VAT) in 1995 may slightly increase the prices. This guide only gives the prices of single and double rooms. For suites, rooms with sauna, extra beds or other requests for services, please contact CONGREX.
Most congress hotels are within walking distance from the congress venue. The low- priced accommodation may be further away but there are very good public transport services to the congress venue, or, if the place is located outside Tampere, there will be daily transportation to and from the congress venue.
