The Natural History of Trees
- The Natural History of Trees, or the TreeGuide provides detailed descriptions,
maps and images of North American tree species,
as well as information about the biology of trees and tree growth.
- Document owner/maintainer:
Thomas W. Kimmerer
- Annexe du cours de Dendrologie foretière (FO-1213) In french!
- The site works in two ways:(see the MENU at left):
- If you don't know the species:
a dichotomic ("Clé dichotomique") key guides you, through elimination process,
to the species identification (latin names) which, by a clic, conducts to the pictures.
(The key also includes a glossary of terms, most of them (in red) explained by a
picture when you clic on them)
- If you know the species:
two alphabetical lists (conifers: "Conifères" and hardwoods: "Feuillus") of latin
names conduct you directly to the pictures.
- Each of the species is presented following the same pattern, that is the
different morphological structures you want to see by selecting them in the
MENU at your left.
