REsilience and Stability in developing TOols for sustainable forest management and REstoration

RESTORE is a EU FP7- People - International Incoming Fellowship (IIF) project (236030) running from 2009 to 2012. The incoming phase institution - Finnish Forestry research Institute (Metla), Finland, the return phase institution - Saint-Petersburg State Forest Academy (FTA), Russia.

The overall objective of the project is to synthesize the knowledge of biodiversity of pristine European boreal forests, available mainly in Russia, and bring it in use in Finnish and European context. That will be done by combining Russian data from pristine boreal forests to those from managed boreal forests in Finland to estimate the resilience of boreal forest ecosystems and develop tools for sustainable forest management (SFM) and restoration.
