Metla Project 7022

Description of commercial roundwood and its distribution in analysing future cutting possibilities

[  Suomeksi  |  Objectives  |  Project leader  |  Researchers  |  Publications  |  Metla Research  ]

Duration: 1999-2000   Keywords: MELA, standwise inventory, taper curve models, timber assortments, tree size distributions
Research Programme: Forest Management Planning

Objectives

The aim of the project is to develop a model system for presenting the stem wood by strata (e.g. timber assortments) meaningful when analysing timber quality from the perspective of industrial processes or end products. In the model system strata are determined in a more flexible way which makes it possible to change the definitions when changes occur either in industrial processes or in the quality requirements of end products.
