Metla Project 3573
englanninkielinen nimi puuttuu
Duration: 2012-2014
Keywords: felling potential, wood consumption, wood resource balance
Research project group: Forest Sector Foresight -project group
Objectives
Wood resource balance summarizes the relationship between wood consumption and fellings. Trditionally the Finnish Forest Sector Outlook Study has estimated domestic fellings and wood import based on the short-term predictions of forest industries production. However, foresight on the future dynamics, and related uncertainties, of wood consumption in relation to felling potential would be useful. In this project, estimates of wood consumption and fellings are compiled according to different socio-economic scenarios. The main collaborators are the Finnish Forest Sector Outlook Study (integration of econometric forecasts with the foresight information on the dynamics and structural changes of consumer markets of forest products), the MELA Team (felling potential in different socio-economic scenarios) and the whole Forest Sector Foresight group (joint definition of relevant socio-economic scenarios).
