Metla Project 3540
Woodworking industries' customer segments and their product and service needs in the internationalized markets
Duration: 2010-2013
Research Programme: Renewing wood product value chains and timber procurement solutions
Objectives
The competition among
woodworking companies has increased as a result of globalization both
in raw material and end product markets since the beginning of the
1990s. In order to succeed in the internationalized business
environment, the woodworking companies must be able to provide goods and
services that are needed by customers both in the domestic and foreign
markets. So far the needs of different Finnish woodworking industries’
customer segments are not profoundly known, although their recognition
is crucial when seeking solutions to successful product and service
provision as well as finding the suitable marketing channels. The
purpose of the research project is to provide information these critical
areas that can further be used in practical firm-level business
planning as well in making societal decisions that aim at economic life
development.
