Research project group: The impacts and policy instruments of the Forest Biodiversity Programme for Southern Finland (METSO 2008-2016).

Objectives

The ecological, economic and social impacts of the 14 actions proposed in the Forest Biodiversity Programme for Southern Finland METSO 2008–2016 are monitored in this project. The impacts are monitored in cooperation with other actors (e.g. the Finnish Environment Institute – SYKE) under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and Ministry of the Environment. The project gathers and produces information that is needed in the implementation of the programme and the new incentive based policy instruments introduced in the programme. In the project the latest National Forest Inventory data is used to produce information concerning forest resources, forest health and biodiversity in national and regional level.
