Metla Project 3521

Duration: 2009-2013
Keywords: Multi-objective forest planning, decision support, non-industrial private forest owners
Research project group: Family forestry and forest policy
Objectives
The project examines the development of interaction practices of practical private forest planning during the last decade and the future development needs of forest planning. In addition, the project will identify the genuine planning problems of private forest owners, which enables development of customer-oriented planning services and products. This can be one way to improve the effectiveness of forest planning. A social network analysis will also be carried out in a project with respect two different decision-making situations: forest owners voluntary nature protection decision and (energy wood) harvesting decision. In addition, the effects of errors in forest inventory data on forest owners’ decision making will be examined. The duration of the project is five year and it ends year 2013.
