Metla Project 3518

Nutrient balances on forested mineral soils

[  Suomeksi  |  Objectives  |  Project leader  |  Researchers  |  Publications  |  Metla Research  ]

Duration: 2009-2012   Keywords: forest soil, logging residues, nutrients
Research project group: Distinct projects 1 - Structure and function of forest ecosystems

Objectives

Human activities affect forest carbon and nutrient dynamics in relation to climate change both directly and indirectly through forest management, e.g. through the increased use of forest bioenergy. This project applies the knowledge on below- and aboveground carbon and nutrient dynamics for determining the responses of nutrient balances to environmental factors on different site types, including the effects of forest bioenergy.
