Objectives

More than 60 million euros are annually used in Finland to remove hardwood sprouts in forestry, under electric lines and along the road sides. During this project a Chondrostereum purpureum strain will be produced that will efficiently prevent sprouting of hardwood stumps. The breeding program will be composed of three processes, the oucome of which will be a fungal strain capable to prevent sprouting more efficiently than any of the natural isolates
