[  Suomeksi  |  Objectives  |  Project leader  |  Researchers  |  Metla Research  ]

Duration: 2008-2011   Keywords: biomass, forest regeneration, silviculture
Research Programme: Bioenergy from Forests

Objectives

The project aims to improve the knowledge about the establishment of broad-leaved trees on clear felling areas after stump removal. The effects of forest biomass removal on the survival of planted seedlings, on the development of seedling and sapling stands and on the demand and timing of clearing of young stands are also studied in the project.

The research findings about the effects of forest biomass removal on forest regeneration activities will summarized in order to give some guidelines for the practice.
