[  Suomeksi  |  Objectives  |  Project leader  |  Researchers  |  Publications  |  Metla Research  ]

Duration: 2008-2011   Keywords: Peatland, climate region, drainage, fertilisation, nutrient deficiencies, nutrient status, stand growth
Research Programme: Production forestry in drained peatlands

Objectives

We study the nutritional status of trees and factors affecting it in pine and spruce stands on drained peatlands. The main focus is on the changes in the nutritional status and the effects of fertilization in the long-term wood production on different site types. We also study how thermal regimes and changes in them affect the decomposition of peat, nutrient cycling and wood production capacity.
