[  Suomeksi  |  Objectives  |  Project leader  |  Researchers  |  Publications  |  Metla Research  ]

Duration: 2007-2011   Keywords: biomass, forest yield, logging residue, nutrients, wood ash fertilization
Research Programme: Bioenergy from Forests

Objectives

The aim of the research project is to determine the effects of logging residue removal on the growth of remaining trees (after thinning) and new tree generation (after final harvesting). The project also aims at evaluating the use of ash and nitrogen fertilisers for compensating nutrient removal with logging residues and for preventing growth disturbances.
