[  Suomeksi  |  Objectives  |  Project leader  |  Researchers  |  Publications  |  Metla Research  ]

Duration: 2007-2012   Keywords: forest chips, fuel wood, measurement, whole-tree chips
Research Programme: Renewing wood product value chains and timber procurement solutions

Objectives

The research project investigates and develops the methods for energy wood measurement. One of the main subjects is to research the potential to use harvester-mounted measuring device for scaling energy wood, especially logging residues, stump and root wood. In addition the properties of energy wood (green density, basic density, energy content) will be stressed in the project. Based of the results, recommendations are given for the conversion factors needed in energy wood scaling. The aim of the study is to determine the basis for official measuring methods of energy wood scaling.
