Metla Project 3418
Cost efficient forest restoration
Duration: 2005-2009
Keywords: forest restoration, learning- by- doing, transaction costs, unit costs
Research Programme: Safeguarding forest biodiversity - policy instruments and socio-economic impacts
Objectives
The research focus is in the specification of the unit costs of forest restoration and in the reconstruction of these costs when entrepreneur- based forest conservation is concerned. The aim of the study is to provide the cost calculation base for the efficiently arranged forest restoration by identifying the specific effects from the use of voluntary and temporary employment in forest restoration as well from learning- by- doing and transaction impacts on unit costs. Supplementary information is provided to LIFE to KOLI project. The project - Restoration of the forests and meadows in the National Park, will draw up a long-term management/restoration plan for forests, meadows and bog woodlands.
