Objectives
The purpose of the pilot project is to plan for a research project on the methodological development of precommercial thinning. Its key research and development objectives will fall under the following headlines: 1. Emergence and development of broadleaved seedlings and sprouts 2. Development and within-stand dynamics of mixed young stands, and its description with models and simulation 3. The influence of moose browsing on the development of seedlings and stand dynamics in mixed young stands 4. Improvement of the Young Stand Simulation System software 5. Optimizing the selection of methods and timing of precommercial thinning
