Timing of phenological events in changing climate - research on trees and their seeds, yields of wild berries and mushrooms

Objectives Timing of phenological events and yields of tree seeds, berries and mushrooms in a changing climate are investi-gated in the project. Long-term observations give information on the impact of climate on plant growth rhythms. Observations also create a basis for modelling, in which yields of pine and spruce seeds, timing of berry yields, and risks of frost damages are being modelled. The experimental part of the research is carried out in co-operation with international scientific networks on climate change. In the experiments, the impact of genotype on acclima-tion of trees to changing climate, the backgrounds of varying seed quality, and the influence of changed climate on plant resource allocation, berry production and fungal attacks, are investigated.
