Study areas

The project is carried out on sites in North Carelia, eastern Finland, in the Koli National Park and surroundings. The sites represent boreal mixed conifer-hardwood forests of four different age-classes: 5-year-old, 30-40-year-old, 60-70-year-old, and mature, over 100-year-old forest stands of medium-rich fertility (Myrtillus-type after the Finnish classification). Each stand is replicated four times, thus a total of 16 sites is used.
