For the future of the Finnish forest sector it is important to know what strategic decisions companies have done in international markets and how these decisions have affected their economic performance. In the feasibility stage of the project the research plan for the research project is finalized, the availability and quality of the data sources are explored and further domestic and international research network is developed. The feasibility part of the study will also bring out new information on the development of international roundwood markets and their effects on domestic wood prices. Overall, the results help to understand better international trade of roundwood and sawnwood, and investment location decisions of the sawmill industry.
