[  Suomeksi  |  Objectives  |  Project leader  |  Researchers  |  Publications  |  Metla Research  ]

Duration: 2002-2006   Keywords: Breeding models , breeding zones, field test methods, gene flow, selection index
Research project group: Distinct projects 1 - Structure and function of forest ecosystems

Objectives

The aim of this project is to find out the effects of the gene flow to the population structure of Scots pine and to the adaptive variation within and between populations. The second aim is to use this information together with data collected from field trials and freezing tests to define new breeding zones. The same data will be used to build up a selection index for hardiness selection. The third aim is to made new directions for field trial establishment..
