Duration: 1999-2003   Keywords: biomass, drainage, nutrient allocation, nutrient dynamics, peatlands, stand dynamics, thinning, tree growth
Research Programme: Ecologically and economically sustainable forestry on drained peatlands

Objectives

The projects aims at producing information for ecologically sound management procedures, regarding especially intermediate cuttings, for stands growing on drained peatland sites.

More specificly, the studies focus at the impacts of intermediate cuttings on i)the allocation of biomass and nutrients at the stand and tree level, ii) tree growth and stand dynamics, and iii) changes in the stand carbon and nutrient pools.
