Objectives

The aim of the project is to produce internationally as comparable data as possible on the public financial assistance targeted to forestry sector in Finland. The project is carried out in co-operation with University of Joensuu, Faculty of Forestry. The comparable research work at European level is organised within the project Evaluating Financing of Forestry in Europe (EFFE), co-ordinated by the European Forest Institute (EFI).

Results

Evaluation of public support for forestry: First ERA-calculations (effective rate of assistance) for different industries in the Finnish economy and particularly for the forest sector industries, were reported in scientific conference in Rovaniemi, June 2001. (see EFI conference webpage).

Jointly funded research results on "Regional stumpage price indices and measuring timber trade competition" have been available at Metinfo Forest Statistics Information Service.
