Sitemap | Search

Objectives

Forest damage advisory service is responsible for answering of inquiries and diagnosis about forest damages and diseases. The service makes it possible to find the best specialist for answering the problem. Also site visits are done with contract and training is offered as well. Provision of detailed advice or assistance to enquirers will normally attract a charge, but initial discussions by telephone or letters are free.

Researchers dealing with advisory work make surveys of actual damage and disease and disease prognosis.

Results

The Internet Forest Health service "Metinfo Metsien terveys" (in Finnish) is updated according to the research results. The Internet service is intended as a practical tool in pest and disease management, training and education. In the Internet service there are over 150 descriptions of damaging agents with over 800 photos. It includes also interactive diagnosis, prognosis leaflets, list of forest damage experts and legislation on forest protection. Report of the forest damage situation is published each year.
