Project 3019

Developing and supporting experimental activities

Continuous research project

The project developes methods, means and equipments used and needed in experimental field works of the Finnish Forest Research Institute. The project is managing the administrative database of about 7000 permanent experiments established and supported by the institute. It developes field work instructions, blanks and measuring instruments. It also developes data managing such as data collection, data transfer, data checking, data storage and basic calculations. An important target is to facilitate the multiple use of data by eliminating the unnecessary variation in work methods and data.

The project is divided into seven unofficial sub projects. It organises training courses and seminaries. The project takes care of the common instruments, forms and other materials needed in field work as well as of the programs used in data checking and basic calculations.
