The mission of Finnish Forest Research Institute (Metla) is to build the future of the forest sector of Finland by producing and disseminating information and know-how for the well-being of society.
Finnish Forest Research Institute, Joensuu Research Unit is looking to hire a researcher, whose duty is to do research on the production, logistics and utilization of wood pellets in Europe with a special focus on Northern Peripheral countries. Furthermore, the duties of the researcher include the administration and support of COST Action FP0902 dealing with the harmonization of research methods in forest energy.
The researcher position will be employed from the beginning of March 2010 to the end of December 2013.
Applicants should have a suitable M.Sc. degree in Forestry, be familiar with forestry, forest energy related issues and technology transfer in Finland, Scandinavian countries and Central Europe with a special focus on Austria and Germany. The applicant should also be familiar with the production, logistics and utilization of wood pellets in Central Europe and Nordic countries. Furthermore, applicants should be familiar with COST Action procedures and administration and have experience in working in EU funded projects. In addition, applicants should have good skills in English and German, capacity for independent research work, good communication skills, and proven activity for scientific publication and research cooperation.
Salary is based on the agreement on wages and conditions of employment between Metla and JUKO ry labour market organisation.
