on forestry in European countries with economies in transition
The Joensuu Research Unit of the Finnish Forest Research Institute has now an open post on a permanent basis for a senior researcher concentrating on forestry in Eurpean countries with economies in transition from 1 November 2009.
The researcher’s duty is to do research on the changes in forestry and in particular in forest policy and workability of forest policy in Russia , Central and Eastern European countries having economies in transition. Changes are studied in particular from the Finnish forest sector’s point of view.
Applicants should have a suitable doctoral degree, be familiar with forestry in Russia , Central and Eastern European countries, in particular about forest policy research. Familiarity of analyses on the impacts of processes influencing forestry would be an advantage. In addition, applicants should have good skills in English and Russian, capacity for independent research work, good skills for interaction, and proven activity for scientific publication, research cooperation and research funding.
Salary is based on the agreement on wages and conditions of employment between Metla and Akava labour market organisation. The salary consists of two parts: fixed part depending on qualifications and experience, additional part depending on personal performance of applicant.
