Senior Researcher in Biometrics

The mission of Finnish Forest Research Institute (Metla) is to build the future of the forest sector of Finland by producing and disseminating information and know-how for the well-being of society.

Metla’s Joensuu Research Unit is offering a temporary position as
Senior Researcher in Biometrics.
Duration: 01.09.2008 – 30.04.2013.

The duties are to promote the application of statistical and related computational methods in various research disciplines of Metla and to carry out research on these methods. The core area of research will be the assessment of statistical reliability of regression mod­el chains. In addition the selected applicant is required to provide methodological training and to give advice to Metla’s researchers in the use of statistical and related computational methods.

The applicant should hold a PhD, competence in the methodologies described above, and evidence of relevant research. In addition the successful applicant should be capable of co-operation, of working within research teams, and competent in the use of the relevant com­puter software and programming tools. The applicant should have fluent English language skills.

The application should include: an application letter, a CV, a list of publications, and contact informa­tion for two referees. The salary consists of two parts: the fixed sal­ary depending on qualifications and experience, and an additional part depending on the personal performance of the applicant (up to 50% of the basic salary).
