The aim is to study tree root responses to soil frost and elevated ground water
table and consequent hypoxia, and to relate the responses to climate scenarios
for the future. The focus is to study root dynamics, root longevity, absorbing root
surface area and root hydraulic properties beside shoot responses, i.e. physiology,
anatomy, phenology and growth.
The applicant should have a recent Ph.D. degree in a relevant subject area, and
expertise in plant ecophysiology (especially in roots), soil science and/or carbon
and nutrient dynamics in forest ecosystems, and experience on experimental
work. The applicant should have experience in publishing in international scientific
journals. Good knowledge on plant biophysics, ecosystem modelling and
statistics are considered an asset. Good knowledge of English is required, as well
as co-operation and communication skills.
The salary will be 2500-3000€/month depending on experience and qualifications.
