Forest Ecology Program Manager (2 Year Contract) ___________________________________________________________________ Job Description The successful candidate will become a key member of the Environmental Resources Team providing program support and guidance with respect to development and implementation of sustainable forest management. Job duties will require identification of perceived and real issues within forest management and the assembly of financial and technical resources to address the issues. As information becomes available the program manager will be tasked with sharing results and discussing management implications with resource managers and the forestry community. The success of this program requires development of an extensive partnership network that includes government, academia, and industry. Education, and extensive communications, will be a primary job function. Qualifications - knowledgable and current on forestry issues, forest succession, landscape ecology, fire ecology, endangered species, and forestry practices - excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate scientific concepts clearly and concisely - Extensive experience developing forest ecology research programs, interpreting and communicating results, and implementing management implications of results. - self directed and with excellent problem solving skills - extensive experience working with industry, government and academia - MSc or PhD (preferred) with at least 3 years experience working with industry - a team player and productive in a team environment Alberta-Pacific is a 1.3 billion dollar, world class, 1500 tonne-per-day kraft pulp facility, located in the Athabasca-Lac La Biche region of Alberta.
